HAROLD (19) bt MCMANUS (6) 5-2 Dave Harold made a magnificent break of 140 in the second frame and followed it up with a 113 in frame four. Harold now faces Stephen Hendry, to whom he lost 2-13 in the world championship. O'Sullivan (9) bt DOHERTY (7) 5-3 Michie (76) bt EBDON (10) 5-3 Reigning champion Peter Ebdon surprisingly lost to Jimmy Michie, the world's number 76.
