Englishman Nigel Bond came back from 6-8 and 0-61 down to steal the 1997 Regal Masters title from local favourite Alan McManus.

This is Bond's fifth major title. It earned him �60,000. McManus received �29,000 plus �5,000 for the highest break, a 140 in the semi-finals.
